Scheduling a Station Tour
The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District is happy to schedule your station tour within the following guidelines. Station tours can be scheduled by completing the
Public Education Event Request Form. Station tours typically last no more than 1 hour depending on group interaction.
Tour Size
Due to staffing restraints, our firefighters can only handle station tours for so many children and as such, groups larger than 10 children must be accompanied by at least 2 adults with groups larger than 20 children requiring a call to the main office to schedule your tour.
All tours are scheduled at Station One at:
1020 West Algonquin Road
Lake in the Hills, IL 60156
All tours regardless of size must be scheduled a minimum of 2 weeks in advance.
Rooms Toured
While on your tour, your group will be shown the fire apparatus, the bay floor and the living quarters for the firefighters. While we try to accommodate all requests the dormitories and front offices of the station are off limits to tour groups.
Emergency Calls
Please keep in mind that you will be visiting an in service fire station that may be requested to an emergency scene. If this happens, you will be briefed on a safe meeting spot for your group and your tour will be delayed or cancelled depending on the nature of the call.
