Residential Structure Fire


On Saturday evening, March 12, 2016 at 10:29 p.m. the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was dispatched for a structure fire at 11962 Kingston Place, Algonquin, IL.

First arriving crews were on the scene at 10:32 p.m., and found a two story single family home with smoke showing from the roof of the house. Fire crews met with the homeowner who confirmed everyone was out of the house and directed firefighters to a bathroom exhaust fan burning in an upstairs bathroom. The fire was declared out at 10:42 p.m. Crews remained on the scene until midnight investigating, ventilating the home and checking for extension.

The house was occupied at the time of the incident and all of the occupants escaped without injury. A damage estimate is not yet available. The fire was determined to be electrical in nature.

No firefighters or civilians were hurt.

Two cats were also unharmed.

Assistance was provided by the Carpentersville, Crystal Lake, Fox River Grove, East Dundee and Cary Fire Departments as well as the McHenry County Sheriff.
