Residential Fire
On Thursday evening, January 21, 2016 at approximately 5:27 p.m. the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was dispatched for a structure fire at 118 Sunny Drive, Algonquin, IL.
First arriving crews were on the scene at 5:30 p.m., and found a two story single family home with smoke and fire showing on the first floor of the home. Fire crews immediately initiated a fire attack and confirmed that all the occupants were out of the house. The fire was declared out at 5:34 p.m. Crews remained on the scene until 7:24 p.m. investigating, ventilating the home and checking for extension.
The house was occupied at the time of the incident and all of the occupants were able to escape without injury. The home is still habitable with the fire damage being contained to the stove and cabinets above. A damage estimate is not yet available and is currently still under investigation.
No firefighters or civilians were hurt. There were two cats in the home that were also uninjured.
