At 4:30 p.m., January 4, 2016, the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District responded to a report of a person in distress in the Fox River in the 800 block of Oceola Drive, in Algonquin. A nearby resident notified the 911 dispatch center of a male victim in the water yelling for help. First responding emergency personnel arrived on the scene within three minutes at 4:33 p.m. and were informed while in route that the victim was heroically rescued from the water by the occupants of a home along the shoreline by a ladder.
