14 Walter Court Lake in the Hills, Illinois 

Commercial Structure Fire

On Thursday, August 31st, 2023 at 11:32 am. the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was dispatched for a structure fire at 14 Walter Court in Lake in the Hills.  First arriving fire crews arrived on the scene and found a single-story manufacturing plant, with smoke and fire coming from the exhaust of a machine used to make fabrics for cooking. Crews initiated an aggressive fire attack to the involved structure, as well as, laddered the roof for extinguishment. Additional fire companies on the scene checked the plant for fire extension.  The facilities employees were able to evacuate, and no injuries were reported. The fire was under control within approximately 35 minutes with no firefighter injuries reported.  

The Algonquin – Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was aided by the Lake in the Hills Police Department, Cary Fire Protection District, Huntley Fire Protection District, Crystal Lake Fire Department, SEECOM Dispatch Center, Barrington Fire Protection District, Carpentersville Fire Department, and the Fox River Grove Fire Protection District. 

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated, and the plant remains open. A damage estimate is not yet available.
