Residential Structure Fire
On Thursday, March 28, 2023 at 1008 hrs. the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was dispatched for a structure fire at 533 Harrison Street in Algonquin. First arriving fire crews arrived on the scene and found a two-story single-family home, under construction, with smoke and fire coming from the first floor. Crews initiated an aggressive fire attack to the involved structure, as well as, checking the rest of the home for fire extension, but switched to a defensive posture when the structural integrity of the floor became compromised. A thorough search of the home and garage was completed. Thankfully, no one was working at the time of the incident. The fire was under control within approximately 45 minutes. One firefighter was transported to the hospital for a non-life threatening injury.
The Algonquin – Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was aided by the Algonquin Police Department, Cary Fire Protection District, Huntley Fire Protection District, Crystal Lake Fire Department, SEECOM Dispatch Center, Barrington and Construction Fire Protection District, and the Fox River Grove Fire Protection District. Village of Algonquin plows applied salt to the street due to water run-off from the fire attack crews.
The cause of the fire is currently being investigated. A damage estimate is not yet available.
