Motor Vehicle Accident down slope with Entrapment
On Saturday, December 31, 2022, at approximately 6:55 am, the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was dispatched for a single vehicle that was off the road in the area of S Route 31and Oakwood Ct. in Algonquin. Firefighters arrived on scene at 6:58 am. First arriving crews had difficulty locating the vehicle that was found approximately 30 feet down a steep slope surrounded by trees on the west side of Rt 31 with a single passenger trapped inside. A MABAS box alarm was initiated for Technical Rescue to assist with the extraction. Crews utilized extrication equipment to free the driver from the vehicle. Once the victim was removed from the vehicle the patient was moved up the slope and evaluated for injuries and transported with non-life-threatening injuries to Northwestern Huntley.
The Algonquin – Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was assisted by the Algonquin PD as well as the McHenry County MABAS 5 technical rescue team.
