Residential Structure Fire

On Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at approximately 5:45am, the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was dispatched for a structure fire at 17 Sunset Lane in Algonquin. First arriving fire crews arrived on the scene within four minutes, and found a single-story home, with smoke and fire coming from a vehicle and the attached garage. Crews initiated an aggressive fire attack to the involved structure, as well as, checking the rest of the home for fire extension. A thorough search of the home, attic, and garage was completed. Thankfully, all of the occupants including the family dog were notified by smoke detectors, and were able to evacuate before the fire department arrived on the scene. The fire was under control within approximately 20 minutes. There were no firefighter, civilians, or pets were injured.  Unfortunately, the home is uninhabitable at this time due to smoke, fire, and water damage.

The Algonquin – Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was aided by the Algonquin Police Department, Cary Fire Protection District, Huntley Fire Protection District, Crystal Lake Fire Department, SEECOM Dispatch Center, and the Fox River Grove Fire Protection District.

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.   A damage estimate is not yet available.
