Residential Structure Fire
On Thursday, February 6, 2020, at 3:02 p.m. the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was dispatched for a structure fire at 55 Alice Lane, in Algonquin. While in route to the scene, Fire Dispatch advised crews that the home was possibly still occupied. First arriving fire crews arrived on the scene at 3:03 p.m. and found a ranch home, with heavy fire coming from the front of the home. Crews initiated an aggressive interior attack while simultaneously searching for the reported resident.
Crews encountered a difficult search due to hoarder like conditions of the home and the large volume of smoke and fire. At 3:20 p.m. the victim was removed from the home and transported to Northwestern Huntley Hospital with life threatening injuries. Per Northwestern Huntley the patient was air lifted to Loyola Hospital. Patient’s condition is unknown.
No firefighters were injured. The Algonquin – Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was aided by the Algonquin Police Department, Cary Fire Protection District, Carpentersville Fire Department, East Dundee Fire Protection District, Palatine Fire Department, McHenry Fire Protection District, Huntley Fire Protection District, Crystal Lake Fire Department, Barrington-Countryside and Fox River Grove Fire Protection District.
The cause of the fire is currently being investigated with assistance from the Office of the State Fire Marshall. A damage estimate is not yet available.
