Residential Structure Fire
On Friday evening, March 8, at approximately 7:20 p.m. the Algonquin Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was dispatched to a structure fire at 1657 Heather Dr. in Algonquin. Crews arrived on the scene at 7:22 p.m. and were met with heavy fire conditions from the front of the two story single family home. Firefighters initiated an aggressive attack and the fire was under control at 8:05 p.m. No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported but unfortunately the family dog did not survive the fire. The fire was declared out at 8:42 p.m. Crews remained on the scene until 10:30 p.m. investigating the fire and searching for hot spots.
The Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was aided by Crystal Lake Fire Department, Cary Fire Protection District, Carpentersville Fire Protection District, McHenry Fire Protection District, Fox River Grove Fire Protection District, Huntley Fire Protection District, and Wauconda Fire Protection District.
The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time damage, and an estimate on the damage is not yet available.
